Since 2013, Certica has partnered with AEIOU Foundation and helped completely change the lives of children with autism and their families.

AEIOU Foundation has emerged as one of Australia’s leading providers of early intervention for children with autism aged two to six years.

Since its inception in 2005, the Foundation has supported up to 250 children across Queensland and South Australia each year, helping them develop vital life skills to foster confidence, independence and greater inclusion. This is one of the largest cohorts of children with autism being supported with full-time therapy in the country.

Providing early intervention to children with autism has long-term benefits to the child and family as well as the community.

Early intervention develops life skills, which reduce impairments and increase community inclusion, job prospects and independence. AEIOU endeavours to deliver the following outcomes:

• Provide children access to an individualised program, which is delivered by a transdisciplinary team of behaviour therapists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, teachers and learning facilitators, in one location;
• Give families access to positive support with a functional approach to challenging behaviours;
• Allow children the opportunity to socially interact with each other
• Make training available to parents through workshops, in-home visits and community experiences; and
• Create a transition program, which assists them and their families when moving to their next educational setting.

A full time early intervention program is expensive with 960 hours of transdisciplinary therapy provided to each child annually. For some families, the AEIOU program is simply not affordable.

Donations from companies such as Certica fund the gap for families struggling financially and help alleviate the burden on providing their children access to an early intervention program.
